Lucky the Labrador saved

A devoted Labrador owner waded through a freezing pond to save her pet after it fell through ice on Boxing Day.

Oranuch Fettes, 41 was walking in the grounds of Fyvie Castle in Scotland with her husband Harry, son, two friends and Lucky the dog when disaster struck. The three-year-old labrador was fetching a stick when she crashed through the ice and became trapped.

The group tried to break the ice from the bank but to no avail, so Mrs Fettes waded in to rescue her. Last week she said she was relieved the outing had a happy ending. "Lucky was okay but I have bruises and cuts along my leg. I didn't notice until I got home because I was so cold."
