Anya the police dogAn unnamed police officer, Pc Neil Sampson and Pc Sampson's dog Anya were stabbed during a confrontation with a man wielding a knife.

Pc Sampson underwent surgery at Great Western Hospital in Swindon where he is recovering. The second officer was not as badly injured. He suffered knife injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

Anya the police dog received a stab wound to the chest and was monitored overnight by a vet, but the injury is not life threatening.
