Police officers and dog stabbed
TWO POLICE officers and a police dog who were injured while arresting an armed man in Swindon, are said to be recovering well.
An unnamed police officer, Pc Neil Sampson and Pc Sampson's dog Anya were stabbed during a confrontation with a man wielding a knife.
Pc Sampson underwent surgery at Great Western Hospital in Swindon where he is recovering. The second officer was not as badly injured. He suffered knife injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
Anya the police dog received a stab wound to the chest and was monitored overnight by a vet, but the injury is not life threatening.
The German shepherd is two-and-a-half-years-old and has been an operational police dog for six months. It is hoped that, like her master, Anya will be back on the beat in the not-too-distant future.
The 26-year-old man that the officers tackled remains in hospital recovering from dog bites inflicted by Anya while the officers attempted to restrain him.
