Dog founder named Asian of the Year

A YORKSHIRE woman who overcame disability to dedicate her life to helping stray dogs has been named an Asian of the Year...even though she is not Asian.

Gill Dalley from Leeds was honoured by Singapore-based television channel Channel NewsAsia. Gill – believed to be the first ever non-Asian to receive the award – runs the Soi Dog Foundation in Phuket, Thailand, with her husband, John. The couple retired to Thailand from Leeds in 2003 and joined the organisation caring for stray and mistreated dogs.
