SAR dogs finds elderly missing man

A SEARCH and Rescue (SAR) dog tracked and found a 90-year-old man who went missing from his home on the Dorset/Wiltshire border.

Dorset Police requested the help of Dorset Search and Rescue and Dorset Search Dogs, aided by Wiltshire Search and Rescue, at 4.00 am last Saturday. They were looking for a man who went missing from his home in Long Cross, near Shaftesbury, Dorest.

Search dog Charlie, a four-year-old Border Collie, located a scent and the man was found in fields. Bob Knott, president of Dorset Search and Rescue, said: ‘The elderly gentleman was found alive but disorientated. He had been walking for quite some time, with his shoes bogged down in heavy clay before slipping over and becoming unable to stand again.’ The man was taken to hospital and kept under observation.
