Nick White elected

The June meeting of an Ard Comhairle of the Irish Kennel Club was held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry, Dublin on Friday evening 13th June.

Among the business was an election to fill the vacancy left by the sad passing of General Purposes Committee member Fred Cuthbert. The election brought forward two candidates: Mr John J Walsh, the former GPC member who lost out at the January elections by a narrow margin in a re-vote and Mr Nick White a current Green Star and Judges committee member and well known Irish Glen of Imaal Terrier exhibitor/breeder.

There was a large attendance on the night and from a vote of 81 eligible members Nick White was successful with a result of 48 votes to John Walsh’s 33 and will now serve on the GPC for the remainder of 2008.

After the meeting, Mr White said that he was ‘delighted’ with the result of the election and thanked the members for their support but that the moment was tinged with sadness as he was a good friend of Fred Cuthbert and went back ‘a long way with him over the years’.

Hibernian Championship Show status for 2009

The Committee of the Hibernian All Breed Championship Show, which recently held its first International event with the attribution of CACIB’s from the FCI, has decided to reverse its show status for 2009 and will be reverting to a National Show next year.

The Hibernian Club is the first society to reverse the trend regarding the running of International events.
