European Dog Show - Dublin 2009
IKC Chairman Mr Brian O Hara welcomes all guests to the launch of the
European Show 2009 which will be held in Dublin
The Irish Kennel Club launched its European Dog Show 2009 at Crufts on the very day an Irish dog took the Gundog Group.
Whilst Monica Boardman from Dublin and her American Cocker Spaniel ‘Riley’ were busy taking the Gundog Group under Patsy Hollings in the main ring, the Irish Kennel Club were equally busy turning the Arena Suite at the NEC into a little corner of Ireland, in readiness for the launch. Flags and welcome posters greeted guests from all around the world of dogs as they made their way to the suite following the group judging.
Ronnie Irving, Chairman of the Kennel Club, took time out from the main ring BIS rehearsals to be greeted by Brian O’Hara and, as our pictures show, Ronnie and Brian even did their best to dress alike with very similar suits! Ronnie equally quipped that the KC had also done their best on this day to have an Irish dog win the group. It was very informal stuff, but an ideal way to launch what will be a friendly and enjoyable show in Dublin in 2009, as Brian O’Hara pointed out.
Brian thanked the IKC committee and the whole team for getting everything to this stage and looked forward to next year, whilst inviting the press to come and enjoy the famous Irish hospitality.
Already through the IKC and OUR DOGS stands at the show, many hundreds of schedules had been distributed and exhibitors are now taking note that the first entries can be made at the lowest price of 40 Euros. The deadline for that is January 30th 2009. From there the entry fee goes to 50 and 60 Euros respectively into February and April 2009.
The world’s press had a great opportunity to meet and photograph many members of the 2009 committee; the President of the World Dog Press Association Mr Paul Cech (Austria) was there along with Karl Donvil from Belgium, and representatives from the Irish media, Croatia, Portugal, and Spain to name but a few.
Everything points to a great Irish and European event in 2009. Further news will be announced in OUR DOGS and on the website of the IKC.
Schedules for the show are now available and will be at the IKC show on March 17th and on the OUR DOGS stand at Championship shows throughout 2008.
