Dogs Trust appoints consultant for international projects
DOGS TRUST, the welfare charity, is delighted to announce that David Newell has been appointed as Consultant for International Projects.
David has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the animal welfare arena as well as a huge amount of operational capability working overseas. Prior to his Dogs Trust appointment, David was Deputy Director General of Battersea Dogs’ & Cats’ Home. He was responsible for all operational activity, including helping to set up a ‘trap, neuter, release’ scheme in Romania in conjunction with Dogs Trust and North Shore Animal league. He was also Secretary of the ADCH (Association of Dogs and Cats Homes) from 1999 – 2007.
The 'catch, neuter and release' (TNR) project aims to reduce large street dog populations in target areas, through humane methods; and for the stray dog population to decline, until eventually there are no uncared for dogs left. There will also be long-term educational programmes to support each of these projects.
