The annual traditional Irish Kennel Club St Patrick’s Day show took place at the National Show Centre in Cloghran, Dublin, on Ireland’s National day last Monday where the event saw a huge influx of the public.
The IKC is building towards the European Winners Show 2009 and as the countdown continues every event run by the organisation helps to bring further awareness of the major show which is down the line. This event, now known as the Celtic Winners Show, will gives exhibitors the opportunity to gather more titles for their dogs.
At the St Patrick’s Day show this year, the honour of selecting best in show title fell to Howard Tonks, the well known Pyrenean Mountain Dog and Tibetan Terrier breeder and exhibitor who had a superb BIS challenge line up to choose from with numerous previous BIS winners among the group winners.
Howard found nothing to spoil the party for Monica and Margaret Boardman and their Crufts Gundog Group winning American Cocker Spaniel Sh Ch/Am Ch San Jo’s Born To Party which was a very popular choice with the appreciative crowded ringside. Just over a week ago “Riley’ had been Patsy Hollings’ group winner at the NEC so is continuing his great run at the big events.
Howard selected Ireland’s Top Dog 2007, Philip and Eddie O’Brien and Jarka Poulova’s
Kerry Blue Terrier Multi Ch Edbrios Blue Ivanhoe as his reserve.
