Verbal abuse hearing continues

The disiplinary sub committee of the Kennel Club met last Tuesday to hear a complaint brought by the Kennel Club against Mr Phillip Charles Downes of Langley, near Slough.

It was alleged that he behaved discreditably and prejudicially to the interests of the canine world, in that he repeatedly engaged in threatening and abusive behaviour at the Slough Canine Society open show held on 4th February 2007.

Presenting the case for the Kennel Club was Mr Marin Evans and Mr Downes represented himself.
The alleged behaviour had arisen and come to a head as a result of the transfer of a Bullmastiff entered in his wife’s name from the Av Working Junior to the av working open class. Both sides had several witnesses appearing on their behalf and as we go to press the hearing continues.
A full report will appear in next week’s issue.
