New cancer therapy unit opens in Cambridge
At the opening of the new Cancer Therapy Unit at Queen’s Veterinary Hospital, Cambridge on 9 October, the Society presented a cheque for £10,000 to the trustees of the Hospital Trust. The amount represented proceeds of raffles, donations and the net proceeds from sales of the Glorious Twelve Calendar, which raised nearly £5,000. The target of £10,000 was set at the Society’s AGM in March 2006 by the then chairman Peter Mills.
The fundraising efforts captured the imagination of members and friends and the Society is extremely grateful to all who contributed in some way. The cheque was presented to the chairman of the Trustees, Mr Richard Greenwood, and trustee Lady Mary Broers by Sue Pounds-Longhurst, chairman of the Society, accompanied by the treasurer, Peter Carey, and past chairman, Peter Mills (pictured above). Sue also had the honour of being presented to HRH Prince Michael of Kent who expressed keen interest in the Society’s activities.
