Dandies win hearts... again!

The Caledonian Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club's Championship Show Event, generously sponsored by Burns Pet Nutrition, was a stunning success in the Tait Hall, Kelso recently.

With the aim of showing how Dandies haven't changed over the centuries and with over 75 Dandie Dinmonts and Breeders from all over the UK and Ireland (rivalling Cruft's entries), visitors to the event had a wonderful opportunity to meet a Dandie 'up close and personal'. Sir Walter Scott's "Mr Dandie Dinmont Terrier", re-enacted by John Charlton, opened the show and was joined by two members of the Kelso Pipe Band who piped in the Judge, Mrs Kate Irving (Dandyhow), for the afternoon session.

Best in Show and Bitch CC was Cameron's Inzievar Silver Bonnet and the Dog CC was awarded to Buist and the late Jamieson's Ch Inzievar Silver Gilt. Reserve Dog CC was Deacon's Am Ch Pennywise Burning Ambition for Cassencarrie on his first outing, Reserve Bitch CC was Mannia's Ch Wazzly Persephone at Kirskill and Best Puppy was Tinsley & Macbeth's Hendell Tom Smart at Cloverwood.

‘Not only did this event confirm yet again the deep affection people have for this ancient Scottish Terrier,’ said Hilary Cheyne, Press Officer for the CDDTC, ‘but it was also a great opportunity for Breeders to touch base with each other ensuring that we continue to breed the Dandie Dinmont for future generations as a terrier 'fit for life and fit for purpose'.’
