Guide Dog Sight Awareness week


The Lord Mayor of Birmingham will officially open the Guide Dogs Sight Awareness event to be held in Birmingham on Monday 13th October at 11:30am in Victoria Square, Central Birmingham.
This will mark the start of Guide Dog Awareness week. During the opening ceremony Lord Mayor, Councillor Chauhdry Abdul Rashid, will be joined by the Chairman of Guide Dogs, Tony Aston a special presentation will be held to mark the achievement of Dave Heeley a blind runner, who with his guide runner Malcolm ‘Mad Mac’ Carr completed the ‘777 challenge’ an extraordinary challenge to complete seven marathons, on seven continents in seven days, starting with Port Stanley, the Falkland Islands (Antarctica) followed by Rio de Janeiro (South America), Los Angeles (North America), Sydney (Australasia), Dubai (Asia), Tunis (Africa) and, finally, the Flora London Marathon (Europe).

The event will last for four days, from Monday 13th October to Thursday 16th October 11:30am to 4:30pm daily. There will be opportunities throughout the four-day event to chat with the charity’s representatives, learn more about Guide Dogs’ work and how to get involved.
