KC ‘village’ at LKA
The LKA Championship show is to feature a special Kennel Club ‘village’ area bordered by the Kennel Club stand which will, among other things, receive Crufts entries.
On both Friday and Saturday the area will feature the Good Citizens Scheme, with demonstrations and the chance for exhibitors to take part and achieve their Bronze Award Certificate. Sunday will, in addition, be ‘Juniors Day’ with the Junior Kennel Club running obedience, grooming and handling competitions. This is in addition to the usual junior handling classes which will start in the main ring on both days at 9am.
Taking this extra space in Hall 4 has enabled the LKA to schedule more non-CC breeds and house more trade stands. The non-CC breeds scheduled are: Dandie Dinmonts, Australian Terriers, Gordon Setters, Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, Kooikerhondje, Hamiltonstovare, Portuguese Podengo, King Charles Spaniels, Estrelas, Finnish Lapphunds and Dogue de Bordeaux. In addition there is the usual generous allocation of not separately classified and imported register classes.
This year the exhibitors car park will be the West car park only. The location is indicated on the NEC site plan on pages 6 and 7 of the schedule. Access to the halls is via the pedestrian underpass.
Judges and stewards should use the East car park. There will be a shuttle bus service to the NEC’s main entrance.
As before, stallholders will use the South car park.
The main car park for disabled exhibitors will be adjacent to Hall 5, with an overflow at the South car park. The location is indicated on the NEC site plan. This arrangement is for Official Disabled Badge holders only (these badges are issued by Local Authorities).
This year there will be additional NEC staff to assist disabled exhibitors and additional buses for their use. These buses will have wheelchair lifts and the NEC will operate a shuttle service between the car parks and Halls 3 and 4 from 6:30am to 6:30pm. The cost of this enhanced bus service will be met jointly by NEC and LKA. Disabled exhibitors may also use Gate 4.5 (Hall 4) which is a short distance from the disabled car park.
Disabled exhibitors will be able to hire a scooter or wheelchair from Magability, situated at the Information booth opposite the entrance to Hall 3. The hire charge for a scooter will be £15 and for a wheelchair, £5. These must be booked in advance – the phone number is 01527 837076.
There are two entry closing dates: the first for paper entries is Wednesday 15th October (LKA show rule 19); and the second, for online entries, Wednesday 22nd October, at www.dog.biz. All exhibitors should note that other events are being held at NEC during the show weekend.
From 2009 the LKA will be held on a Saturday and Sunday, but still the second weekend in December.
