Hello there! I’m Ben and I’m about 4 years old. I used to work in “security” but only walking around with my “man” to make sure all was safe. They trained me to pretend I was a real “guard dog” but I was only acting. I’m a big soft lovable lump!

I just love to lean on your legs and give you the biggest hug ever while I have a hug back and my chest rubbed. I would still have been doing that job but on one of my “MOT’s” I was found to have a slight heart condition. I’m fit and healthy otherwise and am on medication to keep me well.


I’m not allowed to do lots of running silly though but can still play ball for a while (and really enjoy it) and go on nice steady medium length walks – no hill walking for me though. I’ve just recently been neutered, that’s what they called it, I just know I came back from the vets and something seemed to be missing!

I get on really well with most of the dogs at the HQ (Ted’s home at Lancs GSD Rescue) We go to the field and all play together. I’ve been to 3 homes and they’ve all brought me back after saying what a wonderful dog I am and they really like me then they say I won’t do as I am told and I bark at other dogs when I am on the lead.

Ted says I’ve always been so well behaved at the rescue and anyone that takes me out has no trouble. I am just a confident boy who respects good leadership which is what Ted and his crew give me.

I don’t think the people listen to Ted sometimes when he advises on how best each dog needs to be handled ? even though they say so at the time, nor understand how important having the right command is. “Firm but fair” goes a long way to a having a happy boy that you can be proud of – and that’s just what I am.
