Obituary - Ann McCluskey

AYRSHIRE DOGDOM has lost one of its strongest supporters in Ann McCluskey of Macanto Poodles and Bernese Mountain Dogs.

Ann has been a familiar face around the dog shows for many years. A remarkable lady with an immense strength of character, she would think nothing of hooking her caravan onto the back of her van and travelling the length of the country on her own to show her dogs.

The dogs came first and foremost but her other interests were quite varied. I was quite taken aback when I discovered she organised clay pigeon shoots and was a pretty mean shot herself!
Over the years she worked tirelessly as Secretary of Kilmarnock & District Canine Club and saw the Club go from strength to strength. She retired from the Club just over a year ago due to family commitments but continued as a loyal committee member and was always on hand to answer questions or to offer a helping hand.

Some three years ago Ann went through a spell of ill health but not being one to let it get her down she was back out and about within a short time. Sadly, towards the end of last year when the cancer returned she was not to be so fortunate and she slipped away peacefully on the Friday morning. Our heartfelt sympathies go to her husband Tony and their family.
