World of dogs mourns Les Price

Les PriceTHE WORLD of dogs is this week still mourning the tragic death of Les price, well known for his Jagen prefix in Rottweilers and later his partnership, with Lynne Rock, in the Otherton kennels, which was well known for its Dobermanns. Lynne sadly died just before Christmas.

He had been dog training for over 30 years, winning at the very highest levels in all competitions. His expertise in training dogs was called upon many times by television and news agencies. He was also credited many times with saving ‘untrainable’ dogs from destruction.

Lynne and Les also bred dogs and actually owned or bred champions in four different breeds Dobermanns, Rottweilers, Parson Russell Terriers and Lakeland Terriers. They also owned and showed Wire Fox Terriers.

Les also wrote the Rottweiler breed notes for Our Dogs.

Les steered his Rottweiler to a first ever group win for the breed at Leicester Championship Show in 1980. He was also the first Rottweiler ever to win the Champion Stakes in an entry of over 40 champions in the same year at Bath Championship show.

Between them theybred over 54 Champions, and who are spread across 12 different countries across the world and as far apart as Norway and New Zealand.
Les was an international championship show judge.

We have two of Les and Lynnes Otherton Dobermans, we could not wish for better dogs .
A great loss

I live in the USA and have had Les Prices's book on Rottweilers since it was printed and still refer to the book. I think it was and is the best book written on the breed. He will be greatly missed in the dog world.
