Cocker Chairman removed following AGM

IN A move following its AGM last Saturday, the London Cocker Spaniel Society removed its Chairman, Jennifer Lloyd Carey, following allegations that enquiries to do with the working and field section had not been passed on to the Field Secretary.

Following the Society’s show, a handful of exhibiting members and a number of Field Section members stayed on for the meeting. It was here that an issue arose regarding the Field report which had been subject to editing for the Yearbook owing to its length.

Frank Geraghty, Field Secretary spoke to the meeting about his concerns regarding the editing and motioned for a vote of no confidence in Mrs Lloyd-Carey which was supported by a majority of the Field section.

Subsequently, when the Election of Officers took place, the Chairman was not re-elected. There had been no new nominations for the position. The Acting Chairman is now Mrs Phyllis Wise.
Mr Geraghty told OUR DOGS: ‘I can confirm that the Chairman was removed from office at the AGM. The Vice-Chairman is now the acting Chairman. I wish to make no further comment at this time.’
Mrs Lloyd Carey told us: ‘After a busy show, the Annual General Meeting took place on Saturday, 14th February. A large lobby of the new Field Section attended the meeting. Many exhibiting members were unable to stay on.

‘An issue centred upon the Field report, given in full at the previous AGM. The lengthy report was later edited for publication purposes for the London Cocker Spaniel Society Yearbook 2008 and the Field Activities Secretary took exception to this. He proposed a vote of no confidence in the Chairman and with his large body of support this was carried. Subsequently, when the Election of Officers took place, the Chairman was not re-elected. There had been no new nominations for the position.

‘I can assure members that I have always acted in the best interests of the Society.’
