Obituary - Val Lyons

Val LyonsSuddenly after a short illness Val passed away peacefully on January 10 with Zak and Cody, her beloved Field Spaniels, by her side. She was never happier than when she was with her boys.

Val started off as a novice show person in the 1970s with Irish Setters and moved on to judging in the gundog field.

She will be so sadly missed by husband Kenneth, daughter Julie, sons Stephen and Alex, and all the family, she had so many friends both at home and abroad. Val, you made us laugh, you made us cry, but, FIVE stars for being you. BEST IN SHOW!

Funeral Director Kenneth Dewey can be contacted on 0161 980 3878, family flowers only, donations to the PDSA please.

Stephen Lyons

I was so sorry to hear of val’s passing. For many years Val contributed breed notes to Our Dogs, and her love of the Field Spaniel was always obvious in her writing. We spent many hours talking on the phone about the world of dogs, and as a newcomer to the job myself, I learnt a lot from her. She was plain speaking and I always loved that about her.

The office still talks about her annual visit to us at Oxford Road, always at Christmas and always laden down with enough mince pies to feed an fact some of us are still on diets!

Bless you Val, you will be missed by a lot of people the world over.
