Police hunt for new four legged recruits
Strathclyde Police is on the hunt for new recruits - of the four-legged variety. The Force’s dog branch is urgently looking for young German Shepherds who can sniff out crime whilst meeting the demands of modern policing. Dogs offered for donation undergo a series of tests, both at home and at the Scottish Police Dog Training Centre at Pollok Park, to find out if they have an aptitude for police work. Standards are high with, on average, only one dog accepted for every 15 offered to the Force. To qualify, dogs must be between ten months and 3 years old and be fit and healthy. It helps if they have a bold and outgoing personality and are playful by nature. If unsuccessful, dogs can be returned to their owners or re-homed. If you think you can help, contact the Dog Training School on 0141 531 5810/5812.
