DOGS who like to make a splash are invited to take part in a canine swimathon next month to raise cash for the Support Dogs charity.
The sponsored swim just for dogs is taking place at Malvern’s canine hydrotherapy pool on June 20 and is being organised by Kate Arnett and Ernie. Ernie helps Kate, who is
disabled, in a similar way to a guide dog, and the swimathon is to raise money to train more dogs like him.
Kate is hoping 35 dogs will take part on the day with each one having exclusive use of the special pool at Halfkey Kennels for 10 minutes with a hydrotherapist.
“Dogs enjoy the warm clean pool and a selection of toys,” said Kate. Hydrotherapy helps dogs with
problems such as arthritis, damaged tendons and ligaments.
For the dogs’ owners there will be stalls and games, including pet
supplies, plants, tombola and refreshments.
Dogs need to be registered prior to the event and dog owners can book a place by calling Kate on 01684 592145.
Kate is also appealing for unwanted old mobile phones to raise money for the Support Dogs charity. People can take them along on the day of the swimathon or take them to Priory Park this Sunday afternoon, May 24, where Ernie will be out and about collecting them.
