World of dogs says goodbye to Wendy

Wendy Richard

WENDY RICHARD, long time friend to the world of dogs and regular visitor to Crufts and Discover Dogs, sadly lost her battle against cancer last Thursday morning. She died in London.

Wendy was a great supporter of the Kennel Club and the Kennel Club Charitable Trust. She was a frequent visitor to both Crufts and Discover Dogs, indeed insisting on attending the latter as usual in November despite her illness. She was always eager to be involved at both shows and was a past judge of the grand final of the Scruffts Crossbreed of the Year competition. Wendy was also a keen supporter of several other dog welfare organisations, particularly Dogs for the Disabled and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

A KC spokesperson said: ‘Wendy’s love of dogs very much extended into her home life as well. She was a big fan of Cairn Terriers and was a devoted owner to her own dog Shirley, which was named after character, Shirley Brahms, in her breakthrough TV role, Are You Being Served? She will be missed by the Kennel Club and many others throughout the world of dogs.’
