Dog Theft Action (DTA) and Vets Get Scanning (VGS) announced at Crufts that their Dedication Award 2009 would go to Our Dogs. The award is given in recognition of our ‘exceptional commitment to reducing dog theft in the UK’.

The Dedication Award commends those who have made a significant contribution to this sensitive issue which can affect every dog owner in the country. Margaret Nawrockyi, Secretary of the DTA said: ‘Our Dogs has led the way in this field by providing a desperately needed mouthpiece for the victims of this crime. By publishing details of dog thefts and details of missing dogs, frantic owners have been able to reach way beyond their local area and harness the help of compassionate dog lovers across the nation.

‘Our Dogs offers welcome encouragement to all charities and campaign groups concerned with the welfare of dogs. DTA & VGS would like to express their particular appreciation for the advice, guidance and support they have received from every member of the team that produces this outstanding newspaper.

The award was presented to Our Dogs’ Managing Director and Editor in Chief Vince Hogan and Editor Alison Smith by last year’s recipient Celia Walsom, Executive of Petlog, the Kennel Club’s Pet Reunification Service.
