A team of Exeter barristers and their clerks are embarking on a Chambers Charity Challenge – with some help from their dogs.
The 80km two-day hike, which starts on Saturday 2nd May, will follow the Exe Valley Way from Exe Head to the Chambers’ central Exeter headquarters.
The charities set to benefit from this endurance challenge are the Lord Mayor of Exeter’s Charity - Southbrook Special College and Concern Universal, which works to fight poverty. The canine challengers will be taking the lead for the assistance dog charity Canine Partners.
Border Collies Saatchi, Wilson and Badger and Jack Russell Flossie will be accompanying their owners and will raise money separately for the charity that provides disabled people with specially trained canine assistants.
The team has already completed three strenuous training exercises so is looking forward to stretching its endurance to the limit while making a real difference to the chosen charities.
Barrister Anne Bell, who will be walking with Border Collie Saatchi, said, “Not only are we having some fun and keeping ourselves and our dogs fit, but we hope to raise funds for three very worthwhile charities. We are all looking forward to what should be a most enjoyable weekend.”
The Barking Mad Barristers raised £1,000 for Canine Partners so far..
