The Kennel Club of Jersey Spring Championship Show

The Kennel Club of Jersey has just held its second Championship Show if the Year at the Royal Showground.

Three judges came over with Ann Arch judging the Working, Pastoral and Utility Groups; Pat Clayton was looking after the Hound and Toy Groups and Frank White was in the Terrier and Gundog ring.

Coming through to the final line up was the Siberian Husky, Jsy Ch Lapatka Spirit Wolf owned by Sue Warn with the Bearded Collie, Vilmorin Silhouette owned by Rachel Martel coming through from the Pastoral Group. The Utility Group was won by Peter Walker’s Lhasa Apso, Khalila Justin Credible For Petwalk who won his third Jersey Challenge Certificate on the day and subject to KCJ Committee approval is a Jersey Champion. Also gaining that all important third CC was Marie Claire Hannigan and Nikki Deen’s Afghan Hound, Jangels Just A Gigolo At Jahera. To become a Jersey Champion the dogs have to win their Group so it is not as easy as you might think so many congratulations to both dogs.

The Toy Group was won by Thelma Alsford’s Pomeranian, Thelbern The Tangerine Man whilst in the Terrier Group it was the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Granitangel Zircon that went through owned by Mark Fletcher and Angie Seedhouse. The Gundog Group was won by Ro and Nigel Cox’s young Irish Setter, Tiroen True Blue JW.

The rings were then joined and Ann Arch Stepped forward to award Best in Show to the Bearded Collie with the Pomeranian getting Reserve Best in Show. Best Puppy in Show went to Pam Smith and Lynn Ozanne’s Cocker Spaniel, Magic Miss Moneypenny of Islanza with Reserve Best Puppy in Show being Nicki Mourant’s Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Dennis the Menace.

Best Junior and Novice in Show was Peter Walker’s Standard Long Haired Dachshund, Owlery Sparticus with Petwalk. Best Veteran in Show went to the Grandmother of the Gundog Group winner, the Irish Setter Tiroen Tourbillion, owned by Ro and Nigel Cox and handled by Kath Gilluley and the Reserve Best Veteran in Show was the Border Collie, Westirene Bonny Belle owned by Dianne Taylor and Freda Le Page. Art and Di Le Page were successful and won Best Brace in Show with their Cocker Spaniels, Salabah Sorceress and Salabah Sweet Liberty.
