A SOFT Coated Wheaten Terrier puppy who gave her owners the slip at WELKS was found three hours later almost three miles away from the show’s venue in a field.
Yoyo’s disappearance sparked a huge search party involving many people.
Owner Linda Salisbury said: ‘Locals and people holidaying in the area who were aware of the situation were fantastic. Total strangers stopped and gave lifts to those searching for her and drove them around the immediate area trying to track her down.
‘In particular a couple with three dogs staying at the Blackmore Caravan Club site, and two men on their way to the builders’ merchants. Also, the two young lads who work at the Welland Post Office who went out on their bikes spreading the word around locally during their lunch break and the sensible lady in the car park who took control and phoned so many people on our behalf.
‘But our special thanks must go to the wonderful band of Wheaten people who spent so much time and effort searching the lanes for her when they should have been with their own dogs preparing for the show. To say we are grateful is an understatement. Our thanks cannot be expressed adequately in words.’
Upon her return Yoyo was checked over by the show’s on-call vet who found nothing wrong with pup except sheer exhaustion from such a long adventure!
