Obituary - Cyril locksmith
“A real dog-man”. That is how Cyril Locksmith has been known throughout East Anglia for all his adult life. Although we knew during these last few months that he was in failing health, it still came as a shock to hear that he had passed away in hospital on 26th October at the age of 89.
Welsh Corgis were his much loved breed at home, but his knowledge and experience of other breeds meant he was always in demand for help and advice by many breeders and exhibitors throughout the area.
His anecdotes of country life and his earlier days, from the time when he had his first dog, always kept us amused and brightened up many a long afternoon meeting.
He had been married to Joan for 64 years and together they had organised the dog show held in conjunction with the Suffolk County Show for more than 25 years. Over the years he had always ensured that he had a top all-rounder for his Best in Show, and this was much appreciated by all exhibitors.
The funeral will be at Ipswich Crematorium on 5th November at 1.45pm.
We are all going to miss seeing him around the dog scene and we send our condolences to Joan, his son David and family.
