Sun shines on Worcester CDS

Brentknoll Veterinary Centre was established in Worcester in 1993 by David Fisher. The Practice grew and moved to a new purpose built site in 2005 to allow for expansion, and now an excellent team of 20 experienced, knowledgeable and hardworking staff are employed in various roles, caring for thousands of dogs and cats in the Worcester area. Brentknoll offer referral services to other veterinary practices for cardiology, internal medicine and cancer treatment, and also offer an active hydrotherapy and rehabilitation clinic, with two swimming pools for dogs, plus a lot of healthy ones coming for 'Fun Swims'.

In recent years Brentknoll have been actively involved in raising funds for Worcestershire Animal Rescue Shelter, and this year held a Companion Dog Show on Worcester Racecourse, the event being co-ordinated by Donna Goodall and husband Phil, with all of the staff playing their part.
The weather could not have been better, with blue sky and sunshine. Nobody could have asked for more support than that given with 179 exhibitors present. The largest class of the day was for the dog the judge would most like to take home, which attracted 71 entries. The Pedigree competition was equally well supported, with over 30 entries to start the day in the AV Puppy class. Pedigree Judge was Mrs Jenny Grimshaw (Jamalison), and her choice for Best in Show from such a super entry was Sue Brown from Worcester with Boxer Sabian Calypso Dancer, (Casey), RBIS went to Amanda Birbeck with Staffordshire Bull Terrier Janikastco Jumpin Jack Flash, Best Puppy in Show was awarded to Bev Lee from Worcester with Cocker Spaniel Evaremoc Artistic Design and Best Veteran in Show was Jo Jefford's GSD Milljohn Bewitched (Lexi).

In the Novelty Ring, Judge Mrs Carole Samuels awarded Best Novelty in Show to the Lurcher Maisie owned by Mr Tony Turner from Telford, RBNIS to the Spaniel/Cross Chloe owned by Eileen Walker from Worcester, and Best Novelty Veteran to 14 year old Terrier Megan owned by Jan Phipps from Stratford upon Avon.

Thank you to the wonderful team of helpers including Bob Smith on the PA system, Lisa Finney and Practice Manager Barbara Kirk who did a superb job taking entries, and to ring stewards Mr Mike Stone and Mr Ray Samuels who kept things running so smoothly.

A sponsored walk was also held, with the prize for the most sponsorship raised going to Catriona Price of Cheltenham, who obtained a staggering £500 thanks to the generosity of her fellow staff at Kraft Foods, members of the British Sighthound Field Association and fellow Whippet exhibitors.
The whole event was also generously supported by Pet Plan Pet Insurance and Purina Pro Plan, as can be seen by the photographs. The total amount raised by the event stands at an amazing £2113.90
