Obituary - Peter Clews

Mym Clews writes: My Pete lost his fight with Cancer at 8.20am yesterday. I have lost my best friend and my soulmate. We have been together for 46 years and everyone said it would never last - so it goes to show - don't believe everything you are told. He fought hard and bravely right to the end.

Everyone who knew Pete will remember what a good and honest person he was. He never varnished the truth. There was only one truth.

He supported me in my love for the Shiba and we had many good times caravanning and either celebrating or bemoaning the day at the show with a drop of the hard stuff but in later years he became disillusioned with the show scene and took up making and flying model remote controlled planes. He joined the local club and was secretary. Once again he took the young and inexperienced under his wing and gave them help and support.

This was my Pete. He always gave so much of himself to others. You may not have liked what he said to you but you knew it came from the heart and was without malice. He will leave such a big gap in so many lives. I know he made mine richer.

I could not have coped without the help and support of my son Perry and daughter in law Veronica. They have always been there ready to come to my aid at a moments notice. It has been wonderful to find we have so many kind and generous friends.

It is at times like this that one really appreciated the devotion of the NHS day and twilight nurses who have to deal with these distressing situations day after day. A big 'Thank you' to you all.
Pete doesn't want flowers. He would just like contributions the the Aspinal Foundation. This will help the animals at Pert Lympne and Howletts. We spent many happy hours there with Perry as a youngster.

Details of the funeral will follow.
