AN ENGLISH SPRINGER who chased a seagull off a 300ft sheer cliff in East Sussex miraculously survived after belly-flopping into the sea below.
Poppy survived the fall from the the top of the Seven Sisters' beauty spot at Seaford because of the speed she was going at as she leapt off the cliff edge. She was moving so fast that the momentum propelled her over the stony beach at the base of the cliff and into the sea instead. Saving herself from drowning, she then doggy-paddled back to the shore where she calmly waited to be rescued.
The couple called the coastguards and they dispatched an RNLI crew, which was luckily on exercise in the sea close by at the time.
Poppy was driven to a vets in Brighton where it was discovered she had suffered a partially collapsed lung but she has gone on to make a full recovery.
