DOG BEHAVIOURIST AND TRAINER, Tony Lindstrom, has been found dead in a layby by police in what is thought to have been a murder or suicide attempt. His wife is in hospital in a critical condition.
Mr Lindstrom, who with his wife was the co-owner of K9 Health and Fitness, also created the first daycare centre for dogs in the US. It is believed that he tried to kill his wife Diana before taking his own life.
The emergency services discovered Mrs Lindstrom in bed at the couple's home in Church Crookham, Hampshire on February 4. The body of her husband was found in his car half an hour later. Pills and syringes were found inside the 44-year-old Canadian's vehicle, which had been parked in a lay-by about four miles from the couple's home. Mrs Lindstrom, an American who worked as an accountant as well as a dog training specialist, was said to be still in a critical condition in intensive care.
Hampshire Police have so far refused to say if they believe Mr Lindstrom had mistakenly thought he had killed his wife and so then decided to kill himself.
Neighbours said last night that the couple were 'crazy about dogs'.
Neighbour Kenneth Whiteway said: ‘Their dogs were their children. Dogs were their lives. I am so shocked at what has happened, everybody is so shocked. They appeared so happily married. We were told she was found in bed. It was always so silent. We never heard any arguing. They kept themselves to themselves.’
Tony and Diana have three dogs: a Labrador and two Bouviers.
