BRIAN O'Hara, IKC Chairman for the last three years, has announced that he is stepping down from the position.
He has also stepped down as chairman of the club's general purposes committee after 11 years as a member. He has been replaced in both posts by Susan Kealy.
Mr O'Hara will now concentrate on field trials, as a member of the IKC's field trials committee and his work on the special events committee.
“I said I would stay until after the European Winner Show, which was a very prestigious and successful event, and now that's over it's time to go,” he said.
“They tried to persuade me to stay on, but I said no because I have a couple of other things on at the moment which I want to concentrate on.”
I am also very involved in my photography – I am writing a book on kestrels and taking all the photos for it, and I am soon to do another photographic exhibition. We've also had a very big project at my golf club this year and I am very involved in that.
“Sometimes people stay on too long in a role but I have so many different things on that unfortunately I had to make a choice.”
Vince Hogan of Our Dogs commented “Brian was a delight to work with especially during the European Dog Show 2009.”
Our Dogs sends best wishes to him and his wife Diane.
