|AKC Breeder of the Year announced
This year's American Kennel Club (AKC) Breeder of the Year has been announced.
Each year the AKC recognises an outstanding dog breeder by handing them the title of Breeder of the Year. The award celebrates those breeders who have dedicated their lives to improving the health, temperament and quality of pedigree dogs.
The winner this was Helyne E. Medeiros who was presented with her award for her Seasyde Pointers at the AKC National Championship.
'We are proud to honor Helyne E. Medeiros with the 2017 AKC Breeder of the Year award,' said Dennis B. Sprung, AKC President and CEO.'The Seasyde prefix has been associated with top quality Pointers in the United States and their influence on the breed will be seen for years to come.'
The winner of Breeder of the Year is chosen from breeders who have excelled in each of the seven American groups: Sporting, Hound, Working, Terrier, Toy, Non-Sporting, and Herding.
As the 2017 AKC Breeder of the Year recipient, Helyne E. Medeiros will have her pictured painted alongside a prominent dog from her kennel. She will also have her name inscribed on a trophy. Both the picture and the cup will be displayed at AKC headquarters in New York.
