Championship shows show 10 year decline

Last week we gave the information that Group and General Championship Show entries for 2017 were down 1.4% as compared to 2016 but we pointed out that this meant that in total they were roughly the same as they had been in 2014.

This week, we show the entry league table of the top ten UK general championship shows in 2017. These were as follows, with the number of sets of CCs at the shows also listed for each show:

2007 AND COMPARISON WITH 2017
The following table shows the entries achieved at the top ten general championship shows ten years ago in 2007, with the percentage reduction in entry experienced by that show between 2007 and 2017:

*Bath is no longer in the top ten in 2017 and was number 11 this year with 7,628 dogs entered - a fall of 27% since 2007.
WELKS, this year at number 8, was not in the top ten in 2007 but had 10,050 entries in that year. It has therefore experienced a fall of 17% in the last ten years.
It should be noted that in 2017 Manchester was the last show at which Crufts qualifiers could be obtained. whereas in 2007 that position was occupied by LKA.
