|Grammy outrage over puppy prizes
There was outrage from viewers as consolation puppies were handed out to disappointed celebrities at an award celebration last week.
At the Grammy's music awards in America last Sunday the dogs were handed out to the people that had not won an award.
The host of the event James Cordon said, 'I should say to all the nominees that who are not going home with a Grammy - I don't want anyone to be upset tonight, so the good news is nobody goes home empty-handed because all night we will be handing out consolation puppies.
'So if you didn't get a Grammy, you get a puppy.'
The tiny puppies were handed to comedians Sarah Silberman, Jerry Seinfeld and Jim Gaffigan. Some people felt that a puppy was actually better than winning a Grammy.
However, there was a backlash on social media with PETA tweeting, 'Very disappointed that the #GRAMMYs chose to gift puppies as a joke. Animals are not toys. #AdoptDontBuy.'
Another poster responded by tweeting, 'Why were the #GRAMMYs giving out puppies? I'd like to know where they ended up after the show?! A dog is not a gift, it is a life that you've have to treasure forever.'
There was no response from the Grammys or James Cordon as to why they chose to give out puppies as prizes.
