Crufts looms ever closer!
CRUFTS PASSES have been sent out, so you should by now have received yours through the post. If not you should contact Fosse Data, by phone on 01788 860960, by fax on 01788 860969, or by e-mail at enquiries@fossedata.co.uk
You should also have received a pack of promotional leaflets, which includes several from the Kennel Club, which have details about becoming a KC Affiliate, Petlog (the KC pet identification service), the KC Good Citizen Dog Scheme (and its ‘great new tags’), and updated information about the Accredited Breeder Scheme.
The Kennel Club is providing a number of veterinary services free of charge to exhibitors at Crufts – see the back of the Petlog leaflet for full details (free microchipping and eye testing are on offer – but appointments must be made in advance, by phone on 020 8841 5517, between 9.30am to 12pm and 2pm to 4.30pm – closing date next Wednesday, February 28). |
Terry Thorn
Terry Thorn sends his heartfelt thanks to everyone for their kind messages and cards concerning his illness. He says he is overwhelmed by the numbers of people who have expressed their concern. Terry remarks that it is marvellous to see how people in the sport
rally round in the time of need.
Terry is being readmitted to hospital on Friday 23rd February and will undergo an operation in a specialist lung unit. He hopes to be back home sometime the following week.
Terry has now cancelled all appointments through until the end of April but God willing he will be back in the centre of the ring in time for Birmingham National in May. |
Scottish ‘of the Year’ winners
SCOTTISH KC secretary Myra Orr has kindly e-mailed the results of the Scottish Open Show Dog and Puppy of the Year 2006 competitions, which were held at the Cochrane Halls, Alva on February 11.
The 64 finalists (40 dogs and 24 puppies) were all ‘present and correct’, and Myra would like to thank replacement judge Mrs Margaret Brown (Ramsayville) who stepped into the breach at the last minute as the scheduled judge, Mrs Christine Smith, had to withdraw due to illness.
Open Show Dog of the Year was the Australian Shepherd, Applethorn Kiss N Tell at Meitza ShCM, owned by Miss F Miller and Mr M Haslam; Open Show Puppy of the Year was Miss T Lambert’s Miniature Poodle, Vanazzen Back To Mischief.
The Scottish KC Show Dog of the Year 2006 will be held at the MacRobert Pavilion, Royal Highland Showground, Ingliston, Edinburgh, on Thursday May 17. The Executive Council has amended the qualifying criteria for this event to:
Number of dogs: 30. A representative from the rare breeds will now be eligible to compete. Criteria: Winning either BD or BB either from the breed class, rare breed class or NSC will qualify for 1 point. In the event of a tie, the dog gaining BOB, best rare breed or best NSC will gain a further point. The closing date for entry has been extended to Friday March 2.

Channel Islands Dog of the Year

It was an unforgettable weekend for OUR DOGS Channel Islands reporter Ro Cox and her husband Nigel. For the second consecutive year their Irish Setter Tiroen Taylormade won the Channel Islands Dog of The Year competition held in Jersey last Saturday and judged by Gordon Williams. This was the first time this has been done in the history of the competition. To top it all Ro was celebrating a very special birthday on the Monday!
