June 23 and 24 BELGIUM

This weekends key show in Belgium is the Crufts Qualifying event in Brussels.
The Society has just announced an increased entry of 2574 which is 200 up on last years total; Belgium obviously is the top nation with 1329 dogs, but there are 529 from Holland and 40 from the UK.

There is an international judging panel including Kenneth Edh from Sweden, Gitty Schwab from Luxembourg,Ferdi Dickmann from Germany, Peter Van Montfoort from Holland, and Mrs Avis from the UK judging Golden Retrievers and also Christina Bailey (OES and Border Collies)

OUR DOGS will once more have a stand at the show and Sue Sampson will be representing the Kennel Club.

There are over 60 trade stands and a full main ring programme for visitors to enjoy.

‘Eukanuba World Challenge Champion’?

In a global first, Eukanuba, premium dog food manufacturer,
announced a unique cooperation at the European show with the
Fédération Cynologique International (FCI) and The American Kennel Club (AKC) in a unique competition within the world of dog shows:
‘The Eukanuba World Challenge’.

Eukanuba World Challenge PRIZE ANNOUNCEMENT

Eukanuba offers for 2007, 40 champion dogs from around the world a chance to compete in the Eukanuba World Challenge during the
AKC / Eukanuba National Championship 2007 on December 1-2, 2007 in
Long Beach, California, North America.

All dogs are eligible to win the $50,000 trophy prize for the Best in Show. Additionally, these 40 international contenders will have a chance to compete for the Eukanuba World Challenge Cup, worth $10,000.

In the UK Champion dogs will have an opportunity to compete and there will be a points system to find the top dog based on group and BIS wins at UK All Breed General Championship Shows. This will be compiled and published throughout the summer, exclusively in OUR DOGS both in print and online. These points will be backdated from earlier in the year and will finish at the end of September 2007, thus allowing for any arrangements to be made in advance of the event in early December.

“Doing a dog show on such a global scale is a really fantastic and unique accomplishment. I anticipate seeing the crème de la crème of international dog handling at the shows and can’t wait to see who will be triumphant as the ‘Eukanuba World Challenge’ Champion,” enthused Michael Canalizo, Director of Events at AKC speaking at the press conference last weekend in Zagreb,
at the European Show 2007.
