Best in show at a fantastic Crufts 2009 was Good & Middlebrooks’ Sealyham Terrier
Am/Can/Su Ch Efbe's Hidalgo at Goodspice handled by Margery Good and pictured here
with the famous Keddel Memorial Trophy.

‘Charmin’ was the top winning dog in America in 2007 and the top winning terrier there in 2007 and 2008. As well as winning BIS at the prestigious Montgomery County KC show he also was BIS at the Eukanuba National Dog Show 2007 and Group 1 at Westminster KC show 2008 and Group 2 at last month’s show, and of course won the World Dog Show in Sweden 2008.

Heroic Endal 'dog of the millenium' dies

Allen and Endal

Allen and Sandra Parton have today announced the sad death of ENDAL, their beloved Labrador, who has died at the age of 13. Endal was voted Dog of the Millennium and given both a PDSA Gold Award and a Gold Blue Peter badge for his devotion to wheelchair-bound Allen who was seriously injured while serving in the Gulf War. He became a media favourite after being photographed by a national newspaper helping Allen use a cash point machine.

The extraordinary story of how ENDAL came into Allen's life and gave him a reason to live again was told just last night in a Sky Real Lives documentary entitled 'The Dog That Saved Our Marriage' and in the book ENDAL published last month by HarperTrue. ENDAL made his last public appearance on Saturday at Crufts on the OUR DOGS stand where he accompanied Allen and Sandra to a book signing.

Allen Parton said, ‘The world will be a sadder place without Endal. He devoted his life to me and for that I will always be grateful. He was a dog in a million.’

This is the sort of book that any Stafford owner should have as a reference, but would be especially good for the first time Stafford owner or someone looking to buy a Stafford puppy. Their remarkable story is told in ENDAL – How One Extraordinary Dog Brought a Family Back from the Brink. Here's one I wrote earlierHere’s One I Wrote Earlier...
by Peter Purves

Memories of his TV and theatrical career are explored in Here’s One I Wrote Earlier... but it is Peter’s memoirs of Crufts and his association with the dog world in general that OUR DOGS’ readers will no doubt be keen to read. Peter first started presenting Crufts Dog Show for the BBC in 1978, after an initial one-off appearance in 1976. He continued to be presenter and commentator up until last year when the BBC announced that it will no longer be covering the legendary dog show.
