Scooby Doo

Widely regarded as one of the most loved canine cartoon characters, Scooby-Doo and
his unique nose for adventure have held a special place in the heart of the nation for forty years!

And to celebrate, the country’s 6.8 million dogs are all in for a sniff of canine fame as we’re
launching a nationwide search to find the living, three-dimensional equivalent of Scooby Doo!

Dogs up for the challenge will be put through their muddy paces and judged on the following criteria:

  • a nose for mischief
  • large floppy ears
  • a spring in their step
  • brown coat with large black spots
  • a loveable personality
  • and of course, an endless appetite!

The winning pup will get the coveted title of being crowned ‘The Living Scooby-Doo’,
with his owner winning an exclusive stage debut on the Scooby-Doo Live Show,
which is touring the country over this summer.

So take a picture of your dog and enter! All you need to do is send a photo of your dog along
with your name, age, address and telephone number to:

Email: Scooby@cowpr.com

or Address: Martin Ayres, Cow PR, 15 Bermondsey Square, London SE1 3UN

Closing date for entries: 31st May so hurry and send us your dog photos!

AND… the latest news from Scooby-Doo and his pals,
the Mystery gang, is that Scooby
is escaping on to DVD on the 25th May in his latest adventure:

Scooby-Doo! And the Samurai Sword.

Packed with even more hi-jinks, thrills and laughs,
Scooby-Doo and the Mystery gang embark on a
transcontinental treasure hunt, circling Asia and the Pacific
to solve a series of ancient riddles.

Kennel Club speaks out against show stackers

The Kennel Club this week expressed its condemnation and concern over the use
of a supposed training aid called a ‘show stacker’ within the dog showing world.

Show stackers are designed to encourage dogs to learn how to stand in the show ring by forcing a dog to balance on four small raised plinths to recreate where its feet should be placed on the ground during judging. The dog is thus forced to stand still or risk falling off.

The claim of outlets for the show stacker is that it can be used to train very young puppies to stand still and learn to stand-four square, or to retrain older dogs whose feet fall incorrectly when stacked in the ring. It is also claimed that the stackers are used to make dogs stand still whilst having nails
or hair clipped from around the legs and feet.

It is exactly the book I would recommend for anyone buying a puppy from me - or maybe I would even include a copy in my 'puppy pack'...
