Kennel Club urges clubs to remain united
The Kennel Club this week urged breed clubs to remain united with them in order to safeguard the health of pedigree dogs, but has warned that it will stand firm in the face of resistance, in order to ensure that the best result is achieved for all breeders and their dogs.
The warning comes in the wake of rumours that some sections of the Bulldog community may be considering walking away from the Kennel Club as a result of action that the Kennel Club has asked to see within the breed. The Kennel Club revised the breed standards for 78 breeds late last year,
with more extensive changes being made to certain breeds - such as the Bulldog -
to ensure that any trend towards unhealthy exaggeration is halted.
Caroline Kisko, Kennel Club Secretary, said: “We would be very sad if any breed was to walk away from the Kennel Club, as we believe that by working together we can all best achieve
our joint aim of improving the long term health and welfare of dogs.

Best in Show winner, chosen by Judge Mrs Robyn Nagle from Australia and also winner of Group 5 was the Siberian Husky, Tundrafoot’s Bern Baby Bern, owned by Nancy Daponte from Belgium.
The Group 5 judge was Mrs W. Van Deijl from the Netherlands.
