Stress in Dogs

Authors - Martina Scholz & Clarissa von Reinhardt
Is stress the cause of problem behaviours in dogs?
If your dog destroys the house the minute you leave, he may be stressed-out. If he has an unpleasant body odour, excessive dandruff or heavy shedding, he may be stressed-out.
If he is hyperactive, suddenly aggressive, hides under the bed or displays more than two dozen other symptoms, he may be stressed-out and need your help.
Stress in Dogs is the first book to analyse, explain, and help you resolve stress in the lives of our canine companions.
Written for both the canine professional as well as concerned dog owners, the information in Stress in Dogs can improve the lives of dogs as well as humans with a sound approach
to resolving stress-related problems.

International Special

UK’s First-Ever Boutique Music Festival &
Dog Show to Raise Awareness about Cruel Puppy Farming Industry

Ladies and gentleman, please welcome to the stage… PUP AID!!

On Sunday 19th September 2010 dog-loving celebrities, musicians, sports personalities, comedians,
soap stars and bands will all be giving their support to the UK’s first ever boutique music festival
and charity fun dog show on this year’s Puppy Farm Awareness Day, o
rganized by ‘social petworking’ website www.ThePet.net.

This rather special day taking place in the beautiful countryside surrounding Stanmer House
near Brighton aims to educate the thousands of people in the UK who are considering buying a pupp
y but is unsure who to contact or even what to do about purchasing one.

PUP AID 2010 will feature a celebrity-judged dog show with fun classes open to dogs of all ages,
as well as showcasing the best local bands. There’ll also be a boutique doggy shopping village,
Scruffs cross-breed heats, assistance dog displays, Rex Factor, gourmet Bar-B-Q,
and loads of fun for all the family - and of course your dogs too!!

ThePet.net co-founders, TV Vet Marc Abraham and social media guru Andrew Seel
wanted the British public to know the truth about where badly-bred puppies come from, and to help them choose a happy and healthy puppy rather than a sick or dying farmed one.

Tickets for PUP AID 2010 will be available to buy online from August 1st
with a proportion of every admission charge being donated to the local Shoreham Dogs Trust Rescue Centre.

To register for your tickets, keep up-to-date with the line-up, or indeed if you’d like to exhibit,
perform or sponsor PUP AID 2010 visit www.ThePet.net and why not follow @thepetnet on Twitter?

PUP AID 2010 has already gained massive support from Kennel Club, Dog’s Trust, Oldies Club,
Natural Instinct, Be Puppy Farm Aware, Due South Restaurant, The Treatment Rooms, BrightonVisitor.com, Royal Sovereign, Lucky Voice and Gresham Blake.

DDA Watch slams calls to destroy dogs

A PLAN to destroy thousands of ‘dangerous dogs’ rather than paying more than £10m to care
for them has met with an uproar of disapproval from angry dog lovers from all over the country.

The Metropolitan Police has reportedly planned to outsource kennelling and care of dangerous dogs,
which could cost up to £10m over four years, resulting in calls to put down all the dogs
currently in its care, to save the money.

Lord Harris, a former Metropolitan Police Authority chairman apparently asked the question: ‘Why don't we just put them down?’. The sentiment has been put forward in a bid to prevent the costs which, according to Lord Harris, would ‘shock the public’, whose money is used to fund the kenneling and upkeep of the seized dogs.

A record 1,146 dogs, including pit-bull terriers, were seized in London in 2009.
Police currently have 451 dogs in crae, awaiting court hearings.
Each dog can cost the force up to £9,000, while owners fight lengthy court cases trying to prevent destruction.
