The 72nd and 73rd Norte International Dog Show (The shows of the North)
took place last weekend in Oporto in the North of Portugal.

With nearly 2000 dogs in the catalogue it was the 3rd biggest event ever organized in Portugal with judges and exhibitors coming from 18 countries.

Best in show on the first day was the Beagle, pictured with the judge Hans Lehtinen and Carla Molinari. Best in Show 2 was the Bearded Collie and 3rd place went to the Portuguese Water Dog

Each day had its own BIS Winner Sunday - Best in Show at the 73rd was judged by Stefan Sinko (SI) (centre), 1 Rembombory Trichet, English Bulldog, Owner: Pedro Reig Calabuig. 2 Builder's Best Heavenly Rider Long Step, American Staffordshire Terrier, Owner: Jose Ignacio Andres Carballido. 3 Double Scotch Black Pygmalion, Bearded Collie, Owner: Visitacion Echevaria Saiz

New York is getting prepared for the highly spectacular dog show of the year –
Westminster Kennel Club, held at Madison Square Gardens on February 14th & 15th –
and OUR DOGS will be there!

Entries have once again maxed out, receiving a massive 2,597 dogs and 128
Junior Showmanship entries, representing all of the 179 breeds and varieties eligible
are entered at Madison Square Garden February 14-15, 2011.

There were 112 foreign entries that came from Canada (95), Germany, Brazil, Japan,
Mexico, Australia, Belgium, Bermuda, France, Italy, Slovenia, Sweden, and Thailand.
Entries came from 49 states, Washington D.C. and Canada. For the first time since 1998.

dfs Crufts is to return to More4 this year, with Clare Balding at the helm.
The channel is extending its coverage of the
dfs-sponsored event to two hours each night, from the 10th to 13th March.

A fully-updated version of the documentary Good Dog! Bad Dog! from
Mentorn Media, will air at the same time,  examining
the issues and concerns surrounding dog welfare, responsible
dog ownership and best practice in dog breeding.

Czech Republic

Best in Show in the Champion of Champions competition went to the Saluki,
Azhara Al Zahra, bred and owned by Petra Pudova from the Czech Republic;
Second was the Staffs Bull Terrier, Multi Ch Glock Stawka Wieksza niz Zycie, owned by Roman Zalis from the Czech Republic and Third was the Weimaraner,
S Medricka’s D’Laila Sirius Nova Af Fala Lowe’a.
