CANNES FILM FESTIVAL GOES TO THE DOGS!
Our Dogs, the well known Manchester-based canine weekly is making its first foray into the world of film, by giving its backing to a rather unusual award at the forthcoming Cannes film festival.
The paper, which was established in Manchester in 1895, will be involved not in the famous Palm D’or award, but its canine equivalent, the Palm Dog Award, now in its fifth year at the festival.
The venture was started by Toby Rose, film critic and editor of the popular glossy Dogs Quarterly magazine. The original concept was to recognise the role of the dog in many popular films, and has gone from strength to strength ever since. This years judges feature some of the pick of the film critics attending the event in France.
Vince Hogan, Managing Director of Our Dogs told the MEN: 'We are delighted to be involved in this venture, which as well as being great fun also recognises the important role of the dog in today's society.'
