British Land has today exchanged agreements with The Kennel Club confirming terms to relocate and develop a new headquarters for the Club in Clarges Street, facilitating the company’s plans to redevelop the entire site to create a landmark mixed use scheme.
Steve Dean, Kennel Club Chairman, said: "The Trustees have concluded the process of negotiation as authorised by the members at the SGM in January 2013. We are pleased to report the exchange of contracts has now taken place. Kennel Club planning major concessions to FCI judges

A press release issued by the Kennel Club and the FCI just before Crufts said that: "The FCI General Assembly and the Kennel Club are delighted to announce that an agreement regarding the mutual recognition of Kennel Club and FCI judges has been reached following several months of detailed discussion."
Although the press releases themselves talk of an "agreement" both the FCI and the Kennel Club's Websites talk of the terms as being "proposed" and it was confirmed by the Secretary of the Kennel Club Caroline Kisko that: "At this stage the agreement is very much in outline and there is still a great deal more work to be done to develop the details prior to implementation". Dogs For The Disabled in the UK

2013 is the twenty fifth birthday of the founding of one of the leading assistance dog charities in the UK - Dogs for The Disabled.
Our Dogs are very pleased to be adopting them as our "charity of the year" following a very successful twelve months working with Medical Detection Dogs.
I am very proud to see how well they are doing having been involved, in a very small way, at the very beginnings.
While I was still in charge of training at Guide Dogs' Leamington Centre during the 1980's a local vet, Dick Lane, asked if I could arrange any help for a fledgling charity which had just started up which was called 'Dogs For The Disabled'. This had been the inspiration of a remarkable lady named Francis Hay. DFD was then based in the small town of Kenilworth in Warwickshire and their head office was actually Francis' own house.

Proposed New York legislation on dog cages

A bill which would effectively ban the housing of dogs in cages has been put forward to the New York Assembly and has been referred by them to the New York Committee on Agriculture. The bill is mainly aimed at the tethering of dogs but also includes caging.
It proposes that the caging of dogs overnight should be completely banned. It then suggests that that any caging during the day should only be allowed in certain circumstances. Those circumstances demand that the cage:
Is at least four times the height and length of the dog.
Permits the dog to escape harm.
Permits the dog to reach food and water.

Beth inspires us all

A VERY welcome vistor to the OUR DOGS' stand at Crufts was Beth, a beautiful 16-year-old German Shepherd Dog owned and adored by David and Gemma, who have now raised in excess of £5,500 for a charity close to their hearts.
Gemma explains: 'In 2010 we lost our cousin to a brain tumour at just 27 years old after a five year battle and we were thinking of ways to raise money. So we decided to start running our own companion dog shows called Beth's Dog Show to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity. over the last two years we have raised about £5500 through our dog shows. This year will be our third year of running our show in Kent (3rd August) where we will be again raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity and PDSA and hope for this to be just as successful as the previous years.'
