Front Page Story - Attack ends show
dog's career

A JAPANESE Chin with a successful future ahead of him has been so badly injured in a dog attack that he will never be shown again, and has prompted his distressed owner to raise the question of protection from the law in such cases.
Linda McFarlane (Glendyke) was walking four-year-old James, Sleepyhollow Student Prinz Glendyke, with three other Chins, Mantra Jojo Dabrives, Red Fire Cracker and Lanceian Pleasant Chika. All of the dogs were on lead. All of Ms McFarlane's Japanese Chins have a minimum of bronze awards for Good Citizens.
The attack, which happened early last week, saw a local dog (believed to be a Lancashire Heeler cross), escape from under a car and cause serious injuries to James, including leaving puncture wounds to his feet and face, and actually dislodging his eye in the process. At the time it seems his owner was not aware he had escaped from her garden, despite the fact it had happened before. James' owner also received a facial injury after falling over whilst trying to split them up.

Petsavers Photogrpahy Competition

The PetSavers Photography Competition had the theme 'priceless moments' this year. The competition is designed to celebrate the pets that we cherish and love as part of our family. The competition was judged in two categories - Adult (aged 16 and over) and Junior (under 16). The standard was extremely high this year and the judges had a tough job picking the top three images in each category.

Adult Category

1st Prize: Debbie Ford
This is Pumpkin: the singleton puppy of our Sheltie Poppy's first litter. Pumpkin arrived several days early, and seeing as Poppy had shown no signs of nesting or being ready to deliver, it was a miracle that she survived at all! This is a picture of her when she was a week old, in Daniel's (the midwife's) hands.

2nd Prize: Roxi-Lola
McCormick-Thomson

"Talk to the hand"
This is my bearded dragon Jasper. I managed to capture him waving which is a
common characteristic
of young bearded dragons. This is a priceless moment
as he no longer arm
waves and this was our
first time meeting each other.

Junior Category

1st Prize:
Lucia Langan

"Peek a boo!"
My dog Lollie
wanted some fresh
air...eventually
she found a space
for her little face,
the old cat flap.

2nd Prize:
Zoe Jervis

"Lettuce begin"
This is my lovely guinea pig Bert, enjoying a juicy piece of lettuce and waiting for the sun to arrive.

Kennel Club working party
to review FCI judge approval

OUR DOGS has learned that one of the controversial issues discussed at last week's KC General Committee meeting was the recent announcement of an agreement with the FCI about the automatic approval of FCI judges.
According to the contents of that announcement most FCI all rounder judges would be cleared to award CCs in this country without having to complete a KC questionnaire giving details of their judging experience in each breed. Completion of a questionnaire for each breed is a normal requirement for all first time home-bred British judges no matter how many breeds they already award CCs to.

• Highly digestible ingredients and a natural fibre blend, including beet pulp, MOS and the prebiotics FOS to help support the natural balance of the intestinal microflora and to help optimise nutrient absorption.

• Excellent acceptance by puppies.

• No. 1 ingredient is chicken.

• Optimal ratio of Omega 6-Omega 3 for a healthy skin and radiant coat

• Gentle on the digestive system and promotes optimal nutrient absorption to reduce the risk of digestive upsets.
