WE ARE delighted to introduce Benita Gower as the newest member on the OUR DOGS team of photographers. Benita is an experienced exhibitor and combined her love of dogs with her passion for photography in 1999.
Benita says: ‘It was OUR DOGS who introduced me to the showing world nearly 30 years ago when I answered an advert for a young adult GSP. I can clearly remember my astonishment when she took Bitch CC at her very first show. From then on I was hooked and went on to own and show several GSP's and a very special Hungarian Vizsla, all of whom grew old together so, with no dogs to show, I stepped back from the show ring and, together with my husband, Ken, enjoyed raising our daughter who was to go on to follow her own passion in the horse world.
‘My interest in photography dawned when I inherited my first Nikon camera in 1998. Much to my amazement I discovered that I was pretty good at it, so with the encouragement of my tutor I was eager to become a professional photographer, but only if I could specialise in taking pictures of what I loved best, dogs and horses.
‘So here I am, with my camera, back in the show ring amidst the unique atmosphere that can only be found in the world of show dogs. I am also available for individual photo sessions throughout the South East. I look forward to meeting you and your dogs.’
