Enter SKC show on-line!

In what is believed to be the first opportunity in this country to enter a dog show on-line, exhibitors for the Scottish Kennel Club’s May Show will be able to make their entries through the club’s web-site on www.scottishkennelclub.org.

Convener, Robert Crawford said that he was ‘absolutely delighted that this service was now to be offered to previous and new exhibitors. SKC has, for some time, recognised the need for this facility and increasing uncertainties over the postal services acted as a spur to introduce the system for the 2002 events. Our members will be especially delighted by this forward-thinking move.’Visitors to the web-site site will be able to see the complete show classification and list of judges before completing the on-line entry form and making payment by credit card. Exhibitors will be asked to confirm their acceptance of the terms of the entry form declaration and their completed entries will then be downloaded directly to printer Fosse Data Systems’ show database.

Copies of the show information and completed entry forms can be downloaded along with a receipt which will act as ‘evidence of entry’. No longer will proof of posting be a worry for exhibitors and they will be able to enter the shows up to the very last minute of the closing date.

In introducing the system, Secretary General, Allan Sim, thanked The Kennel Club for their co-operation in making the necessary regulation amendments and explained the advantages of the system. ‘Exhibitors no longer have to worry about the inconvenience of the present system and they will know that their entries have been accepted at the point of completing the entry form. There will be a substantial amount of automatic validation on line by Fosse Data Systems including breed, sex and age.’ He also said that that there had been excellent co-operation with Fosse Data to bring the project to fruition.

The system goes ‘live’ on 18th March but exhibitors are encouraged to visit the web-site in advance of this date in case of earlier introduction. This is the first of a number of services to be offered on the club’s new on-line shopping site.
