and raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Relief
Do you own a dog, want to get fit, have fun, and help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Relief while you walk? Here’s just the challenge for you- and you’ll feel great by taking part.
BThroughout 2004 Burgess Supa Dog® is supporting Macmillan Cancer Relief with a great initiative – the Supa Dog Get Fit Challenge.
This sponsored Walking for Fun activity will help you, your dog and your family get fit whilst raising funds for a very worthwhile cause.
Get sponsorship and then walk your dog for as many miles as you can, on your own or with friends and family. Why not organise an event if you feel challenged?
All the money raised from the challenge will help Macmillan Cancer Relief provide the expert care and practical and emotional support which is changing the lives of people living with cancer today.
TV vet Matt Brash took time out from recording Zoo Vet - the television programme that visits zoos to help keep their animals fit and well - to launch the Supa Dog Get Fit Challenge at Crufts.
Well known for his expertise with exotics and companion animals, Matt explained: "We read in the national press every day that we are a growing nation, growing in numbers, but also growing in size and weight.
"The Supa Dog Get Fit Challenge is a great way to encourage everyone to take more exercise, go for a daily walk, with your dog, and help them to get fit as well."
Sarah Riddolls of Burgess Supa Dog® explains: "We all recognise the health problems associated with obesity. By simply getting more active by walking, we can improve our fitness levels.
"We are also aware that our lifestyles affect not only ourselves but also our pets, with many dogs walked for less time each day.
"At Burgess Supa Dog® we are trying to put the two together by highlighting the issue and encouraging people to exercise their dogs more, but at the same time recognise the issues within health care in the community, by raising money for people living with cancer."
Burgess Supa Dog® hopes to help improve the nation’s fitness in this easy to take part in challenge which will also increase the awareness of the health benefits of owning a dog.
The Challenge will run from March and close on November 30th, 2004. You can decide on how long you want your Challenge to last, as long as it falls between these dates.
With over 5 million dog owning households and 6 million dogs across the UK, there are plenty of our ‘favourite friends’ to walk and have fun with at the same time.
