Miss Margaret Wright
I was sorry to hear that Miss Margaret Wright had passed away on Monday March 15th at the grand old age of 92 years.
Margaret bred and showed Whippets under the kennel name ‘Cranshaw’. She first appeared in the show ring in 1961 and bred two or three litters of Whippets a year until the late 1970s. She campaigned one dog bred by Mr J Willmore out of her stud dog Cockrow Partridge of Cranshaw x Kew Sally, Ch Pimlico of Cranshaw. After Partridge retired, Pimlico took over the stud duties.
Although Margaret produced some very sound stock, she was not lucky in producing any further champions, as the competition was very high during these years.
It did not deter her from breeding and showing, she was nominated to serve as a committee member on the Midland Whippet Club in 1972 and worked diligently without any complaints about any task she was given.
Margaret was a quiet and modest person to talk to, and was always, if asked, prepared to carry out her duties for the benefit of her club and other members.
When she retired from the committee in 1983, she was made an honourary life member of the club.
