OUR DOGS is pleased to report that one of the two bitches stolen from the IKC’s Cloughran Showground in Dublin was recovered last Monday night.
The three and a half year old black and tan bitch was handed in to Swords police station after being found on a housing estate near Malahide, Dublin. A 15 month old tri-coloured bitch is still missing.
Speaking to OUR DOGS earlier this week a delighted Geoffrey Porter said he was delighted that friends in Cavaliers and other breeds were doing their utmost to help find the remaining bitch.
last week the IKC issued a statement following a meeting of the General Purposes Committee held on Wednesday 4th August.
‘ the matter of the two dogs stolen from the National Show Centre during the Show held on Sunday, August 1st was discussed. It was agreed that a meeting would be convened at which the Board of Management of the National Show Centre would be consulting with Security consultants, the Garda and other specialists in the field with a view to making a statement on future policy to the An Ard Chomhairle at their next meeting on Friday 13th August.
‘It is very regrettable that two dogs were stolen from the show grounds on Sunday and we sympathise with the owner who is naturally very distressed.
‘The Committee running the Show did make repeated announcements reminding people to keep an eye on their possessions, which naturally included their dogs, but no one could have anticipated the speed with which the thieves operated and their timing was obviously well-planned.
‘As soon as we have concluded our consultations we will let you have the details.’
OUR DOGS understands that a meeting of the Board of Management and security specialists took place last Wednesday evening.
A reward for the safe recovery of the 15 month old bitch is offered and Geoffrey Porter can be contacted on 07791-503404.
