On Sunday, 8th August, the Northern Branch of the Bearded Collie Club held their annual Fun Day at Lords House Farm, near Blackburn, Lancashire.
Forty three Beardies, their families and friends braved one of the hottest weekends of the year to attend this very popular event in the Branch’s calendar. Anyone who knows a Beardie will be aware of their fondness for having fun and their owners are much the same.
This hard-working Branch put together a very impressive and well-organised programme of events which included a variety of games, one of which was the very well subscribed sausage eating race.
A moving rescue dog tribute, agility demonstration and a novelty dog show were added attractions included in the afternoon’s programme which culminated in a hilarious fancy dress contest.
The celebrity judge for the day was Kevin Horkin who had to make the unenviable Best in Show decision from all the games and fun class winners and awarded the top honour to an adorable Beardie puppy, Bertie, who was certainly enjoying his day out as he never stopped wagging!.
In between all the fun and games, this professional committee ensured there was lots more to enjoy, having organised a delicious looking BBQ and tea and cakes stand alongside tombolas and raffles of which the Star Prize was a DVD player.
So in the busy show season, take an afternoon off and give your Breed Club's Fun Day a visit, as like the Beardies and their owners in the photo, you and your dog may just enjoy it.
